This week is Spring Break. I’m not in school this semester ( 😦 ) but my sister, Stacey, is home on break, so I got up really early on Saturday and drove and hour and a half to visit my parents and Stacey. I got to my mom’s at about 7:30 am. Dad was at work, so I was just me, Mom, and Stacey. We went yardsaling (no good ones though) on the way to a little indoor flea market where my aunt has some booths. We had lunch with her at Chilis (where I did great). After we went through all the booths there, Mom, Stacey, and I headed to one of my other aunt’s shops. She is a professional yardsaler. Lol. That’s the best way I can describe it. She buys out yardsales, storage units, etc. and has a shop where she resells everything. So we had a pretty good day. Definitely got a lot of movement in! I spent the night with them Saturday night and came home Sunday in time to go to work at 4.
Although I had a blast hanging out with my mom and sister this weekend, I also realized that my family has been a big part of enabling me to become the size that I am today. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not blaming them. I made the bad food and lack of exercise decisions that caused me to gain so much weight, but I definitely didn’t learn healthy lifestyle habits from my parents! My mom is about 5’2″ and weighs about 265. My dad is about 5’11” and weighs about 330. My dad eats all the time! Literally. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him idle and not eating! He eats just to eat. I’m really worried about his health. Both of my parents are in their 50s and I want to have them around for a long time! But I’m afraid that their weight is going to cause them major health problems! So I think I talked my mom and dad into doing weight watchers with me! The aren’t really good with technology, so I ordered them both points calculators and a book with everyday food points values. I told them that until their stuff comes in the mail they need to practice tracking all their food. I hope they stick to it. I’m excited to get healthy with them!
